Although Christmas 2016 has come and gone, but the enjoyment of the holidays continues for someone like me, who has officially shut down for the year. If you would agree, 2016 was a year and a half! The year welcomed new entrepreneurs, manufacturers, innovators and an endless list of creativity in the business world. Regardless of the economic down turn, Nigerians home and abroad persevered, every single one of us did not give up the struggle to better ourselves individually and collectively, this is the true spirit of a Nigerian.
Like its done in most countries in the world, the end of the year signifies a time of giving honor to whom its due, In Nigeria, we have seen the AMAA Awards, the Headies Award and a few other awards given out to those deserving of such awards in the Entertainment Industry, and this just got me pondering on the fact that, apart from The Future Award which recognizes individual contribution in different categories, there is no award given to product innovators or businesses in general, maybe I could be wrong , but I'll love to see this happen in Nigeria in 2017.
In the United Kingdom and United States of America for example, yearly recognition is given to deserving products, see Product of the year USA and Products of the year UK. This is something we should emulate in Nigeria. I mean going by the rate of FMCGs in Nigeria, producing similar products, one can only imagine how grand such an occasion will be in Nigeria. Meanwhile if you are reading this, and you would like to see this happen in Nigeria, please contact me and let us discuss the possibilities of bringing this dream of mine alive.
Moving on, a lot of products made its way to Nigeria this year, and according to alibaba.com, the Number one selling product of 2016 in Nigeria is Human Hair. Surprised? No you shouldn't, when you do a 360 turn around, out of every 10 females you see, 6/7 are wearing Human Hair, so thumps up to our Nigerian Ladies for growing China's economy.
Now lets go global, the year 2016 welcomed the most awaited phone, which is in high demand all over the word, The IPhone 7, this phone was very much in high demand to the extent that a popular Nollywood Marketer/ Producer had to go steal some, I mean this shows how much people wanted the IPhone 7, its obviously the most wanted product of 2016 as far as technology is concerned.
According to Consumerreport, the best Mid-Size Car for 2016 is the Toyota Camry, According to the website,"the Toyota Camry has got no fuss driving experience, great outward visibility, control that falls easily to hand, a roomy interior, may not be the most thrilling in its class but its far from plain. A hybrid delivers fuel economy, while reasonably affordable". Well the affordable part is what most Nigerians will contend with, because of the present exchange rate which is at an all high this year.
On Amazon's best selling product of 2016, while the Crest 3D white Strip (Dental Whitening Strip )ranked No1, Aquaphor Healing Ointment was on top 5 of the best selling beauty products of the year, and I can attest to this, read my post on my-top-skin-care-products.
Of all the Airlines in the world, Emirates ranked No.1 in 2016, and this is according to a survey conducted by AirlineQuality.com . Which is so impressive if you ask me. I might be trying an Emirate flight on my next trip out of Nigeria. I have read a lot of pleasant reviews about Emirate, I believe its time to see for myself. If anyone from Emirates Airline is reading this, please know that I'm interested in reviewing your in -flight -service for my blog, feel free to contact me..(Jokes Apart, I'm very serious about this.)
From the highlights above, its very true that consumers are always right. When it comes to products and services, there is no better person to tell you the truth than a direct consumer of such product or service. I mean we are the reason why these products are manufactured anyways, so its not out of place for us to judge what we spend our money on. Meanwhile reviews on some specific websites don't lie because they are real user experiences including reviews on my blog.
I know the year 2016 has been filled with so many pleasant surprises for most of us living in Nigeria, but I can tell you one thing for free, so many young Nigerians have ventured into Agriculture, Beauty business, blogging, Tailoring and so many other things and have succeeded in it, so the days of people chasing the white collar jobs are numbered. If you have sat at home with your CV all year round, why don't you dust your self up and start some little business is 2017, there is enough space for every individual to succeed in this world, Never think any industry is too cramped, do something unique, something exemplary and people will look for you.
I hope to see you shinning in the year 2017, and my prayer for everyone reading this blog is that together, we shall succeed in all that our hearts and hands desire to do.
Stay blessed!
