Remember the rumor that Aliko Dangote, the wealthiest African Man, was planning to buy Arsenal a couple of years back. Now its official, and straigth from the horse's mouth. In his interview with Bloomberg Television, Dangote said he has not given up the plans to buy Arsenal after he was rebuffed in 2010 by its owners.
As it is, Dangote is waiting for his business prospect to improve and investment in gas pipelines and oil refinery to play out before making an acquisition.
The Billionaire is quoted to have said "Maybe in three to four years. The issue is that we have more challenging headwinds, I need to get out the way first and start having tailwinds, then I'll focus on this".
Dangote added that, its not about buying Arsenal and just continuing with business as usual, its about buying Arsenal and turning it around. I have a very successful business and i think I can also have a successful team.
By buying the Arsenal team, Dangote will become the first ever African to own a football team in the England Premier League.
