Review of Devon King's Refined Palm Olein. Cholesterol Free!

The first time I came in contact with the Devon's King's Refined Palm Olein, I thought it was Palm-Oil, then I saw a beautifully dressed chicken in lettuce nicely platted, at that point I knew chicken, Palm- Oil and Lettuce couldn't go together, this prompted me to have a second look at it, then I realized that PZ the makers of Kings Vegetable Oil have taken it a step further to rebrand their popular Kings Vegetable Oil. Apart from the new name which is a bit mouthful if you ask me, something red and shiny like a Notary Public's stamp caught my attention, that sign says cholesterol free.

In this time and age where we are all counting calories and looking for the easiest way possible to eat healthy and still enjoy our meals and our lives, I thought to myself in that second that it wouldn't be bad if I give it a try. That was my introduction to this Vegetable Oil, at that time it was sold for N2,000 or less for the 5litres

My experience since my first try has been great. Let me share my Devon king's experience with you in three ways;

For Cooking:-

It doesn't really show in meals or when you cook stew with it. it actually feels like it dries up into whatever you cook it with. You don't see Oil separation in your stew, and it’s very good with fried rice and Jollof rice. This is a true testament to it being cholesterol free.

For frying:-

It doesn't foam, and it does not soak up your fries or plantain or beef, Whatever you fry comes out crisp and the left over oil can be used over and over again. It takes a long process for it to become dirty oil( for lack of a better word)

For Baking:-

I have used it for baking only once, and it turned out nice, what I baked didn't come out oily at all, it came out looking fresh and nice.

Will I recommend the Devon's King refined Palm Olein? Absolutely! but with a caution. For a first time users, you will think you can’t see the effect of the oil in what you are cooking, please do not be tempted to continue adding more oil than you would with other regular oil with cholesterol. As this is cholesterol free oil, so you wouldn't see fat lining up your pot of soup or what ever you are cooking. This is why this particular oil has its health benefit.
For those who love cooking with Olive Oil, or imported cholesterol free oil, you should try this product.
It comes in different sizes, but I will recommend the 3 Litres or the 5 litres which is what I have been using since last year. It has a manufacturing and expiry date printed on the jerry can (so be sure to check when buying it), it is certified by NAFDAC and has a tamper proof seal, and guess what, it is a locally refined oil made in Nigeria.
