I want to become a blogger!Here is how to go about it.

I'm not yet a pro when it comes to blogging, but I have been very fortunate to have inspired a few people to start up their blog. I have been blogging for 5 months and people keep asking me about how they can start up a blog and how profitable can blogging be. The first I can answer, but the latter, you'll have to ask the professionals who have actually made a kill through blogging.

A lot of people want to start blogging but are lost for ideas on what to blog about. In blogging, you can either be a general blogger or a niche blogger. Its a bit frustrating when you are convinced in your heart that you are a perfect writer, but when it comes to blogging, you just blank out on what to blog about.

In this article, I'll like to share ideas with you on how to become a blogger and what exactly you can be blogging about.  Remember I mentioned that there are two types of bloggers, the General blogger and the Niche blogger.

Who is a General Blogger
These are bloggers who blog about any and everything under the sun. They don't particularly have restrictions as to what they put out on their blog  . They combine gossip, news, fashion, entertainment, and every other thing all rolled into one. This is a very convenient style of blogging because you can hardly run out of content when it comes to General Blogging. 80% of the blogging world is dominated by these style of blogging, and it is a very profitable style of blogging.
Being a General blogger, it simply means that you have no boundaries as to what your content should be, and for start up bloggers you are likely to reach a wider audience if your blog is in this style.

Take Home Note
 As a General Blogger, these are things you should know;
  • Distinguish your writing style from others, even though your updates are similar to others, have catchy topics.
  • Have a strategy
  • Research extensively on breaking news before you post
  • Do not sensationalize your story alone, authenticate them too.
  • Keep a tab on what other bloggers are writing about
  • Be consistent, because there are too many people blogging about similar topics as yours ,so you cant afford to be docile.
  • Know that blogging will take all of your time, so you need to focus on breaking every kind of news the moment it happens in order to stay relevant and visible.

Who is a Niche Blogger
Don't look too far, I am your typical example of a Niche Blogger. A Niche Blogger  simply means a blogger that has stuck to a particular style  blogging. This style of blogging can be termed as unconventional blogging, in  that, the blog contains specific information about a particular industry, item , personality or whatever the blog decides to focus on. Being a Niche Blogger is pretty difficult in some cases and very easy in other cases. The Niche you decide to focus on, might be one which is very vast or restricted in terms of content, but whatever your niche , just be sure that its one you know so much about, because knowing little can actually put your blog on a very long halt, a  situation where you will run out of ideas on what to blog about.
Being a Niche Blogger shows your knowledge about a topic and your level of creativity in that field. This might not necessarily be a profitable style of blogging for start-up bloggers, but be rest assured that it pays in the long run.
Other examples of Niche blogs, are Inspirational blogs, Parental blogs, Sport Blog , Health blog and whole lot of other areas which are yet to be discovered

Take Home Note
Bear in mind that there will be good days and bad days, also know that;
  • Your knowledge about a topic is not enough, research is very vital
  • Have a strategy
  • Communicate always
  • Ask questions from your Mentors or your Readers, these people will help you grow
  • Don't force it. If you can't come up with a good write up, please don't post anything, till you are convinced your content will be useful to your readers
  • Let your blog be something that will help people  to solve a problem
  • Believe in your strength and passion for what you do.
For anyone who is interested in blogging, this article is to inspire you and guide you as well. The online community is there for you, so research more on what you feel is right for you.

I hope this post helps somebody and if you have other questions, I will be waiting to respond to you.
